Additional Server on Installations in “High Availability”

For every new “Additional Server” Network Station, proceed as follows:

  • Download and start a new virtual Network Station or switch on a new physical Network Station. For further information about how to do this, please refer to the “Installing the Network Station Hardware” or “Installing the Network Station Virtual Appliance” paragraphs.
  • In the new Network Station:
    • Open the “System Settings”.
    • If the new Network Station is a virtual one, enter a new GUID. If it is a hardware then the GUID is already entered.
    • Configure the “System Settings” assigning the various parameters, that you noted previously, from the old “Additional Server” Network Station, now switched off.
    • In the “Network” make sure to select “Additional Server” in the “Server Role” field.
    • Open the “Database” panel, and make sure to select “Replica” in the “Configuration Type” field.
    • Once completed, click the “Save” button.
  • Update the new Network Station to version 8 or later.
  • Make sure that the new Network Station reaches over the network the one in production declared “Main Server”. To perform this:
    • Open the “System Info” session by clicking the proper “i” button in the bottom left corner of the sidebar.
    • Expand the “Ping” panel.
    • In the “Host” field enter the IP address of the “Main Server” Network Station in production.
    • Verify that the “Average Ping Time” does not write “Invalid Host”. If “Invalid Host” appears, check the parameters entered in the network of the “System Settings”.
  • Expand the “System” context dropdown menu, choose Block/Unlock to put the new Network Station in “Maintenance”. You are now displayed a red bar to the right of the word “System”.
  • Start the data replication:
    • In the new Network Station “Additional Server”, open “System Settings”.
    • Open the “Database” panel.
    • Make sure to choose “Replica”in the “Configuration Type” field.
    • Click “Activate”.
    • Digit the IP address and the password of the “Admin” user of the Network Station “Main Server” in production.

Click “Run” and wait for the copy of the data to complete. Warning!

    • It may last even hours depending on the amount of data to be migrated.
  • Remove the “In Maintenance” status by clicking the “Block/Unlock” option in the “System” context dropdown. The red bar to the right of the words “System” will be hidden.
